October is Fire Prevention Month. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) designated October 6 - 12 as Fire Prevention Week enouraging individuals to mak sure to have working smoke alarms in your residence. Make sure to check your detectors and replace your batteries. If your smoke detector is more than 10 years old it may be due for replacement.

A burning permit is is required for outdoor burning. Permits are good for one (1) calendar year (Jan. 1st - Dec. 31st). You must call and check before burning per the guidlines in your burning permit.
